arm, what do you guys think?
Hi Jay,

while I'm great on insight with respect to kneeslides, I'm really bad on executing them. You must come over to tutor me on knee slides!

Here is my arm now. I cant get a reading from the radiologist saying what I can/cant do. Its getting the white line on the outside and looks fairly solid, but I'm thinking it might need another 3 months to be fully healed? Its been a year since the surgery, but I havent been able to eat properly due to my income. I think I could unicycle with a splint on now? I'm tired of sitting on my ass!

I'd definitely wear a splint on your arm. It would not be worth it to break it again, besides the fact that you cannot afford to break it again!

Man Claudine, when you hurt yourself, you really hurt yourself!

Sending super positive vibes and chi your way,
Biff

I think BE CAREFUL! I know you're itching to sk8, uni, bungee (j/k), but you gotta give your body time to heal!
The pools, parks & ramps will still be there! Promise!

PEACE & Positive Chi

 Hey Claudine,

the answer is simple: If you fall in the same way like you did when your broke your arm, it will break again. No matter how well healed it is. This means you do not want to fall in the same way again. Ever. The only advice is also the same as ever: You got to learn not to fall in this way. I think you have made some progress in this direction by pulling your arms in. BUT: This will still result in unfavorable falls. In the transition, sliding on the knee pads is the way to go. Skateboard kids in a street skate park are no role model at all since they wear no pads. Older skateboarders skating transitions with their knee pads on are a better role model. You can obeserve them sliding on their knee pads. It is the only option for us roller skaters since we can not leave our board and run away.

Knee slides are great, but I fell on my hip the other day when I was doing sidestance and fell too fast forward. I wish I could react faster to twist. I am not sure when I can roller skate yet?

I think the trick is to go easy. I know, "no risc, no fun", but basically you have to lower the risc you take. Of course there is no zero risk. There is alway the possibility that an ice block falls from the sky and hits you on the head. We can only try to minimize the risk of our own actions. When I haven't skated in a long time, it feels so great just to be rolling again.

The side stance action you are referring to was skating downhill, right? Well, I think the problem was that your speed increased beyond your confidence level. Maybe stay below that level?

Some months ago I had a wrong push in the mini ramp I rode. I shot out of the ramp and all I could do was to fall flat on my belly. My right had felt like my left one when I broke it last year. I thought: "Oh no, not again" and at least I got away this time without a doctor. The cause of the whole misery was impatience. Now I try to be more careful to not let this happen again. Maybe a bit less fun, but also more security. I try to be content and enjoy it when the weather lets me skate a bit.

So the bets are off weather we first meet in Germany or in the US. Or maybe in Australia. I definitely want to visit Australia again.
