Fred Blood skateboard - NOT
So show us some pics of this guy please. I may be biased but I truly believe Jay Cloetens (Sorry Duke) has the best claim to the title. He has continued to skate despite injury and committments,, to constantly push his limits and to promote our craft without sponsors, free equipment or the recognition he deserves.

Chris Eggers brought to my attention the following item on skateandannoy.com. They do a monthly EBay watch and found
this:

"This next complete is so entirely cool and rare on so many levels. It’s a G&S Frank Blood routed deck from 1979 complete with International Motosport trucks and green Kryptonics. It’s typical of most G&S Proline decks of the time: company name on one side and pro name on the other. But who knew that Frank Blood ever had a pro model skateboard? Not many I guess. He isn’t even listed on AOS. For those that don’t know, Frank Blood was probably the most well known vertical roller-skater in the world. Yes that’s roller-skates, not rollerblades. He could really rip up a ramp on 8 wheels, and I guess he ripped on 4 too, because G&S wouldn’t give a pro model to just any chump. It’s in great used condition, and the early Indy sticker on the tailblock is a nice touch. $582."

If you look at the board, it says "Frank Blood". Seems like somebody was confused by the similarity in names.

Read what another legend, Chris Strople, wrote on Skateandannoy yesterday:

Hope all is well for the holidays. There were two Bloods. Fred was the roller skater and Frank was the skateboarder. Frank was a regular at Upland and was a good skater, he was sponserd by Sims and G&S. Fred also frequented the Pipeline and was one the three best vert roller skaters alive. Always thought Kenny Means was the best….Happy Vert Year! CS

Hey Ben there is a plethora of recognition and respect for for Jay on this forum and all very well deserved too.Same goes for Fred and Duke, masters and legends for sure.
I do recon though the radest thing about us 8 wheelers is that you get your respect for just being stoked on vert rollerskating,,not how high you air,how many sponsors you've been through or even sevices to our comunity.
Have the bulkest of rad new years and I hope x-mas was a blast for all.Stay in touch.

cheers joe
