Hey, I CAN stall both the copings! I didnt know!! Yep, made it back and forth once. Little girl with big feet, awesome! I will get a video in another month!

Hey, soon I think I will switch my plates. My street skates wheelbase is 1/4" longer. My vert skates have the rear trucks slightly forward, 1/4" from standard. It was OK cause I am narrow and used to clip my back wheels with the wide trucks. Now I'm not. But on bigger ramps I butt plant sometimes cause of it and I want to start hitting the bigger ramps. I see all you guys have really LONG wheelbases.

So you parallel guys, turning is on the rear wheels right? Cause if I try it and find the rear wheels are too far back I could move it up 1/8" inch and the front trucks under the base of my toes shouldnt matter? I will take my street skates to the little bowl and if it turns OK I will do this switch.

THen I will have to debate designing new sliders! Still have UHMW!! I might make it more of a flattened V instead of the curve like inline plates for my design but keep it the same height as it is. If I go down towards the plate much more I know I will get hung up on the coping. I dont think I would like it a straight flat line though.

Just trying to practice a bit almost daily now. :-D The kiddie park is OK now that I'm working on some tricks.

**Fantastic!!

: So you parallel guys, turning is on the rear wheels right?

**I'm pretty sure that I use any and all wheels when turning. Can't say as if I use one more than the other. Probably, the lead foot uses the front truck for turning more, while the trailing foot uses the rear truck more for turning.

Cause if I try it and find the rear wheels are too far back I could move it up 1/8" inch and the front trucks under the base of my toes shouldnt matter?

**I have my front trucks ALL the way forward, and my rear trucks all the way rearward. It takes a little getting used to, but I adapted within a week to it. Definitely not as agile as a rink set up. But, skating vert, your skates do not have to be as agile.

**Keep it up!!!

OK, think I will now consider my slider design. I will just need 4 bolts and can switch my wheels and use my street boots. I'm guessing I like my current design, just make it a smooth V shaped rather then the semi circle like the inline? I think that will help me clasp and slide off the coping easily without hang ups. I'll take my street skates to the lil bowl and see how the longer wheelbase goes. I think now that I'm wanting to do the bigger ramps, I wont need something so agile. Slamming on my ass hurts cause my trucks are forward in the rear.

Here is a pic of the sliders that I made. Each has two bolts that attach them to the plates.

Here is a close up of the drilled hole with a recessed area for the locknut.

And here, you can see the bolt coming up through that hole. After attaching the nut, I broke off the extra bolt so that it would also be recessed.

Thats too heavy for me lol! Looks like another bolt too? I think I like a design the is more of a V rather then flat like that. You move around too much on flat. I'll probably think about it a few weeks.

> Only 2 very thin roller skate bolts per slider. Besides, it really doesn't add much weight at all, since I drill out material to install them, including the recessed area for the locknut.

> Mine was only flat during the process of preparation. Once, I got to the fully attached stage, I cut out a lock in spot on my sliders. You can see it in the pictures below. I used a router to machine the lock in spot.

I'm already planning my next prototype, which will have more of a semi-long curved groove lock in spot. I am going to get rid of the wood block as well. In its' place, I'll use a solid block of UHMW plastic that I will lighten with a honeycomb of drilled holes through it. If I cannot get a pice that is big enough, I might use a second flat piece like a riser pad for a skateboard truck. That way, I could remove a lot of the material (like the one pictured further below.

I want my next slider plate to be more curved like this Kizer frame.....only wider, of course.

Thats how mine are now, flat with a U in the center, but I thought the flattened V from one side to the next would work. I just think the V would slide off easy to the wheels.

I remember when I first skated skating Robert gave me a hard time for working on my skates all the time. You guys are 10 times worse lol! Its been over 2 years since I've messed with mine and I'm almost happy. Just want the rear wheels back and if I can improve the plate, awesome!! I just need to find me a place where i can switch out body parts when mine get thrashed lol.

Here is my idea. It would be the same height/thickness, its been working fine. And I would get new short boots eventually.

I'm guessing that the second pic is your new idea? You want higher ankle boots and bigger wheels?

That will work ok if you are not side surfing, but the high ankles will get in the way of side stance. The big (softer?) wheels will be ok for now, but as you progress, you'll find that smaller wheels are much better for doing tricks. The bigger the wheel, the more to get in your way. And if it is a soft wheel, then it will grab too much as well.

Keep at it though, as everyone has different needs. It might just be that this works perfect for you.

I thought I mentioned these were my OUTDOOR skates I'm converting, so NO, I would change it to smaller harder wheels of course!! I just photoshopped my slider design on my outdoor street skates. I am getting new boots one day and I skate parallel anyways. I was showing the wheel placement and slider idea. I would probably skate with these boots til I can get new ones.

Think a V would work or stick with the U design? I want to start on the sliders lol.

I think that both would work. I think the V would be easier, but in the long run, the U would be better for once you get used to doing grinds and slides. Many have a different opinion on this, though.

Yep. There are at least twice as many opinions as there are roller skaters.

Hummmm......well guess I gotta dwell on this and decide lol, thats hard lol! Maybe I'll have it a V with a curve at the tip. Instead of flat with a U in the center like inlines or a sharp V.
