Hi,
I just visited an old friend some of you might know at his new home in NY. He says he is still there, but out with a messed up shoulder for a while he cannot get fixed right now. The vertical adenture is not yet out of his mind though. Just to let you know!

 Hi Chris,

thanks for posting some news about Daniel, it is well appreciated. It's sad, however, to hear about his messed-up shoulder. I wish him a complete and speedy recovery!

What I did not quite get: Did you visit him in New York or is he visiting his home country?

I didn't realize that I could read Chris' statement either as

"I just visited an old friend (some of you might know at his new home in NY)" (which I did)

or

"I just visited an old friend (some of you might know) at his new home in NY" (which was meant by Chris).

Well, now everything is clear. So it's not only that German is a difficult language, English can be difficult sometimes, too.
