Did you ever feel like a dumbsh!t while learning programming, like weekly, daily, hourly lol? If you know of any helpful sites, except w3schools, esp. for javascript, lemme know. I think my heads been hit a few too many times! I think I'm more of a designer then programmer but still trying......

: Did you ever feel like a dumbsh!t while learning programming, like weekly, daily, hourly lol?

Actually, not that much. But I was still young back then and motivated. Programming was also less complex back then. My motivation originated in tossing too many coins into arcade games. I thought, hey, it should be much cheaper to play your own games. Access to a computer (a "mini" computer had the size of a closet back then) wasn't easy, but I was determined to learn to program in order to save money on playing computer games. What I want to say: you will automatically learn it when you try to solve a problem that itches you. I also did observe the same with other people. Once they had their very own thing, they overcame every hurdle with ease. I wish it would be the same with roller skating ...

: If you know of any helpful sites, except w3schools, esp. for javascript, lemme know.

A good starting point seems to be Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript
The german variant seems to offer a different set of information: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript

Yeah, it seems to be quite a different approach from designing. I know another designer who hits his head a lot with programming. I believe you have to approach it with a completely fresh mind, not trying to get at it with designer-think.

Well, tomorrow I have an interview as a graphic designer in a sign shop. Unless they require regular overtime, I'll take it. I dont want to wait on this other job anymore. Maybe graphics is more my field. Maybe right now too many things are on my mind to be totally focused on things like Regular Expressions, Metacharacters, Validation, lol.

I find roller skating comes to me more with ease, just not the answer to how to stay healthy and injury free. The problem of how to jump a rail is also a wonderful obsession to dwell on lol. Maybe I just need to clear my mind? I'm working on my delima of how to get a knee brace to fit me which will keep my leg from rotating so I can skate or a taping technique and that seems more my mental level lol. I think I'll be more of a web designer and less of a programmer. I took a break, guess its back to work....... Well, you are admired! I guess I should take more interest in video games huh? ;-D

: Well, tomorrow I have an interview as a graphic designer in a sign shop. Unless they require regular overtime, I'll take it. I dont want to wait on this other job anymore.

Sometimes it helps to be a bit pushy when the future employer is stalling. I had a similar situation once (OK, I had some freelance work to complete myself) where the employer kept on stalling. I nearly lost my nerves but called them, basically telling them that I am available NOW (Implying that I won't be for much longer). It's very unnverving to get pushed around by employers. The truth is, they cannot stay in business without their employees!

: Maybe graphics is more my field. Maybe right now too many things are on my mind to be totally focused on things like Regular Expressions, Metacharacters, Validation, lol.

Sounds like too much at once. Javascript is probably just not the best way to get started with programming.

Not necessarily. That's just what got me started. A friend of mine got started by his interest in Hindi. He wanted to have an online hindi dictionary and learnt lots of advanced programming stuff this way. Before, he just couldn't get himself interested. He isn't the type to just repeat what others have done but excels when doing his own stuff. It ist a matter of differnt characters, I think.

I keep asking the job when I start and they said they would tell me by last Friday latest. No word. I have bills to pay. Food I want to eat. Gas. I'm really broke.

I think the interview went OK. They have software now so I can design 3D signs and construction, so also architectual drawings. I thought that was cool! I would really love that, real design. I'm actually better at 3D I think just lack space here to pursue it. I really love to build stuff! So I think I would do well there. I will let nature take me where I should be. If not there, I'll take a local admin job here and stick with web til my skills are up. There just isnt much in graphics for employment, that and money are the reasons for the change. I really dont care where I work (as long as the commute isnt too bad) or what I do, I just want medical insurance, $ and time to skate lol. And not to hate my job.

Time to finish my homework lol.

Yes, I know this. It's not fair!

: And not to hate my job.

Chances increase very much when you apply for something you love doing. The employer always tries to choose the best person for the job and will notice it.

I keep wishing the best for you. When I don't get a job, I sometimes tell me that it might have been better so. Not every working environment is good for you.

Well, I keep telling myself everything works out for the best in the long run. Its usually true. Some things seem bad now but better is in store cause of it. So I think this just means web is what I should pursue. Admin jobs arent bad. They are easy so I can focus on my classes. I think my job self esteem right now is about as low as it can go. And this means I wont have much leah way yet with money. I've only gone on vacation one time my whole adult life. So it will be longer......darn, I was hoping to have money to travel to skate one day soon.

Fake bunnies = Funnies! Take 2 soyburgers. One split into 3, 2 ears and the face part. Stack the one burger with 2 ears above, then add the front face part on lower top of burger. Take cherry tomatoes, cut up for nose and eyes. Take carrot slivers for whiskers, Cool, hahahaha? ;-D I was queen of playing with my food lol. Mom was not pleased, JUST EAT lol.
