goofy footed?
Yep thats right you basicly have a natrual forward foot and you would ride a scooter or cruise, standing on the pedals of a bike with the same foot forward.

cheers joe

: Since I'm a goofy sk8r, should I skateboard goofy too? Maybe thats why I dont do so well since I try to do nermal lol?
:
: : Good on ya. The goofy footer thing isnt an insult,it is a genuine surf/skate term for right foot forward, and left foot forward is called natrual.

: :
: : : Seems like to turn right, you put your weight on the right foot, to turn left, weight on left foot. I'll blame it on my left knee right now. My body doesnt like weight on left foot lol! I'm a totally goofy skater. :-D I asked a skateboarder if he could do it both ways. He said yeah. He turned inside, easy, to his backside, he fell over lol. We all seem to have skating side issues! I'll keep practicing. Need both ways for bowls. Not really better today but I finally could drop in again and wow, did that feel GREAT!! Great skating day, I'm coming back now!! I cant seem to get the sidestance on ramps either. So Robert, you might always have a frontstance buddy here.
: : :
: : : : It's good your thinking this way. A lot of rollers and inliners just turn one way and thats missing out on half of the fun.Just keep practising it and it will come natrualy. You'll find that when you skate comfortably at the lip your feet wont get in the way as they will be setting up for particular moves or in the air.Right foot forard makes you goofy footed like me and right turn is frontside.I always skated with boarders and my frontside and backside moves are board orientated ie: I dont just do everything the same both ways. It's nice to develop your own style.

: : : : : Since my knee isnt 100%, practicing basic things which I still need to work on. Mostly spinning in my non dominant direction on the halfpipe for transitions, skating sidestance and rockin fakie. I skate right foot in front, strattled. I got it spinning right almost in my sleep although mostly I prefer to jump them. Getting OK now going left. I want to get this down easy too so I can do bowls no prob. both directions. Just I feel it awkward still cause my right foot is forward so I sort of lift the weight off the left leg to spin or sometimes I have to 2 step it. Cant explain really. But otherwise, having my left foot back makes it hard to spin 180. Getting better but its not natural yet. When I'm comfy, I will just jump it but I want both ways smooth and to be able to spin and jump them. Any help or am I just strange? I'm not sure why its much easier to go the side where my foot is forward but it is......

Yepp. Goofy footing should also be the way for you to ride a skateboard (or a snowboard).

BTW.: I'm a goofy footer too. But there are even stranger critters: Regular footers turning on the ramp like goofy footers. It's true, I have seen one!

I am goofy as well. I find carving from left to right to be pretty hard, but I am adapting. These newer bowls really make you skate both ways.

Left to right? Really?? I skate right foot forward and my body only likes to go right. Otherwise spinning left, the front foot has to go way over and its not natural. But the bowl I will go to, you roll in and MUST carve left. Maybe carving will be different then 180 spins, hope so. Trying to get it good enuff. I really want to go to the bowls now! I think my knee will be 100% in 2 weeks. :-D

It's unusual. Normally, a goofy footer turns left and a regular footer right. Anything else has to look strange to someone who sees most people doing it this way.

Really? Usually when I see people skate ramps, they turn the way in the direction of which foot is forward. Thats how I decided to turn right cause otherwise you have to cross way over the other foot. So this is on park ramps too?

Oh, is turning left for sidestance? Cause I skate parallel. If I try sidestance I go left. That makes sense! But parallel I go right. I have been know to go against the grain though lol. Hey, this is funny that most of us are goofy. I dont see too many goofy skateboarders. I havent paid attention to inliners.

It has nothing to do with the ramp. When you turn in the direction of your front foot, you are doing a frontside turn, else you do a backside turn, which is a bit more frequent. To add more confusion: on my skate photos, you see mostly frontside airs. That's because they are easier to shoot from the platform.

: Oh, is turning left for sidestance? Cause I skate parallel. If I try sidestance I go left. That makes sense! But parallel I go right.

No connection to riding parallel or spider. In both cases, we call the turn frontside and backside like described above.

: I have been know to go against the grain though lol.

Vertical roller skating goes against the grain per se. You have to be really strong headed to to pull it through. ;-)

: Hey, this is funny that most of us are goofy.

I also found this a bit enigmatic. Why do you call the rare case regular? Has me puzzled always.

To add more confusion: on my skate photos, you see mostly frontside airs. That's because they are easier to shoot from the platform.
:
: : Oh, is turning left for sidestance? Cause I skate parallel. If I try sidestance I go left. That makes sense! But parallel I go right.
:
: No connection to riding parallel or spider. In both cases, we call the turn frontside and backside like described above.
:
: : I have been know to go against the grain though lol.
:
: Vertical roller skating goes against the grain per se. You have to be really strong headed to to pull it through. ;-)
:
: : Hey, this is funny that most of us are goofy.
:
: I also found this a bit enigmatic. Why do you call the rare case regular? Has me puzzled always.

But arent most skateboarders regular? I was checking out the cheapo snowboards for kids and they were all made regular. So maybe us rollers are just a little goofy all around lol?

Well heres what I looked at when I started. Everyone goes the direction of their front foot except the one girl kinda goes both ways. Lisa seems to go right except when she stalls.

Well, if I'm weird, always been, guess I always will be. Just nice when I find there is at least another person like me that likes to go against the grain! Just dont really have a choice sometimes. Some things I like and can do, some things I dont or cant. Then I'm different cause whats natural to me is odd to everyone else. Yep, the eccentric one! Nope, nothing normal bout me lol. :-D
