Hi Tobi,

: I think it's really awesome that you are so open towards all kinds of skating. On sk8mag.de / adinfinitum.de you feature skateboarding, snakeboarding, inlineskating, quadskating; some rollerskating contests were mixed inline and quad, etc.

Also some BMX. Thank you for your kind words!

: Some sites or people promote segretation, disrespect, and elitism. But skating should be about fun, not elitism, and sites as yours and www.rollerfr.net bring a friendly, open atmosphere to skating; thanks!

Fully agreed. However, there are some disciplines excluded from my sites. For example, I do not understand what "Inline Alpin" has to do with skating. I my view it's a subdiscipline of skiing and therefore not interesting for a site which tries to reflect the skating spirit. But your words indicate that everyone has another view on this. In my opinion we should try to live peacefully together if we use the same spots. And I have respect for everyone who has fun riding ramps and transitions. This repect is reduced, however, if he rides only to beat others in competitions and isn't able to enjoy a good session.

What do you guys think of these trucks? Think they'd be any good on skates?

Doesn't seem to be designed by a skater. A skater never would take the grind out of Grind.

whaddya need wheels for? This gimmick was tried before, but it was a real truck with a rolling rolling-pin encasing the axle. See anyone riding these?

Anyonr familiar with snakeboarding?

Now I remember. I honestly think that those gimmicks are designed by people watching skaters doing grinds and then wanting to make the move easier. But I think that on the one hand skaters don't want this and that one the other hand this gimmick is just plain dangerous.

I know some snakeboarders. Have a look at:

I actually have no specific view on "Inline Alpin" ...

Feature what you like, it's all good :)

I don't think every skating site should feature every discipline or every kind of skating. I just think it's cool that some are open enough to for example feature quad *and* inline, or invite both to contests, against all tension and elitism coming from other communities.

There seem to be more of them ramp skating than of our kind. Anyhow, they seem to be generally nice people. It seems that people living in a smaller scene tend to be more well-behaved.

no, i don't know any, but I have tried the thing. I thought the gyration would be similar to that of side stance rollerskating but I could not get it going.

I tried it myself, once. I actually managed to get it going. The funny thing was that some skateboarders had no luck. I think it's more different from skateboarding than from rollerskating.

I tried it on several different occasions and managed to get it going only I was going backwards. I thought it would be similar, too, but found it awkward. When someone gave me a push to get going, gyrating it was easier, but from a dead stop, I could only go backwards and not well at that. Yep, skateboarders couldn't do it either. Ha!
