he said high chance it wouldnt heal and 2nd surgery. i thought major pains = growing pains. im right! 2 weeks, pain all last week, pin sized specks of graft now look like balls of popcorn w/ only now 1-2mm of black between. the black 1" hole almost gone!! most beautiful thing to my eyes! brought tears to my eyes. sorry, dr, kept xray 4 now. 15 days should be 1 solid bone and new cast or maybe no cast. i eat healthy and my body still is young it seems. dr. very happy. i got new meds to help w/ pain and 2 weeks reduced work. i need to worry now on getting PD elbow/wrist pads somehow cause i will sk8 again soon, woo-hoo! i will rip it up in PT. i feel like i just won a million dollars. :-D

 Hey, great news, Claudine! I think the view of the Xray photo will make the pain more bearable to you. Roller skaters are a tough bunch!

I did some sports yesterday. Rode my bike over mount Schauinsland. Quite some feat for me! It's about 1000 m higher than Freiburg.

knowing i AM healing is such a relief, financial too! Aug. 15th will be a good day. i will have more movement i hope and more activity. everything i can do now is very exciting and i am proud of even the simple things i accomplish now. i hope to ride my bike 1 day soon. i will be very out of shape tho. ur ride sounds wonderful, amazing job!! yes i will be active again soon and very happy!! i thought my body was old but its doing an amazing job staying young for me. i wish i could work more but the end is soon.

Every little progress is a joy. And we value what we have much more once it had been lost and re-gained.

Don't overdo it. It will be soon enough that you capabilities are back 100 percent.

 i spoke to my boss and no worries on me losing my job, he says im doing well and take off what i need so trying to take just one day off. i hope that will make pain less, healing faster and will be enough to get by. i am greedy now, i want to be able to afford PD pads so i can sk8 when i can sk8 but i need 2 jobs 4 that really. not sure but injury might just be from direct impact since it was shattered? i might need to tell dr. how it happened so he can advice me here. i think i can sew my bf's old PD elbows for a bit though.

i look forward to walk tomorrow and make food and sleep. i think walking is good for circulation. i should start sit ups i think but not fun lol. i think until its one bone i will be in pain. the percocet doesnt help pain more nor make me high, bummer lol. glad i still watch skn, actually learning from just watching and i enjoy that! now i can dream about sk8n again and it will be MORE fun. :-D i keep hoping to see robert do a flip here for my fun!!

but i think i need to be honest w/ dr. how i did it to find out what i can do to prevent/lessen injury.: : knowing i AM healing is such a relief, financial too!

It's good that you can at least partially work. Maybe work even distracts from pain?

I don't know if the doctor can advice you. Most important for you is to not do crash landings. Protection wear can only do so much and there is no protection save a knights armour that would have prevented my hand from breaking on the slam I did on May 29.

My experiece with telling them how my injury happened: The doctors didn't comment at all and the physiotherapist doesn't want me to do it again (yet).

The most important prevention is a proper falling technique. Learn to allways land on your knee pads and slide it out.

BTW.: My hand makes good progress. I can play a bit guitar again, though overstretching my fingers is impossible at the moment. Therefore some grips are just out of reach at the moment. But I am really having fun playing some easy Giuliani waltzes.

I have high hopes myself. I even think I could go skating again, but I have a feeling that my physiotherapist is opposed to it. I'm still tortured by her thrice a week and I think I have found out why they let women do this. They are more tolerant to pain. ;-)

 Way to go Bernhard!! im sure u were smiling ear to ear like i was just sitting on the board. :-D

i was told not to tell since i would be told not 2 sk8 and just bad statistics. i think a shattered bone is direct impact but splintering might mean twisting too wh/ better guards might help. time to work core muscles i guess so twistin 2 knees is easy. but if i fall sideways, i want 2 keep arms in now and have thick elbows 2 slide on and other joints. i think tucked is better if bad position?

i am also scared!

today no work but good, very achy!!!!!! i think it will b 1 bone in 1 week lol. i try now 2 eat more healthy foods even if stuffed since my arm seems to b yelling at me it needs more, i dont want it 2 take from other bones. 100F but want 2 go 4 walk w/ sling since circulation good and boring here. i feel mentally better if i work, more pride but health must b #1 now. i think w/ my surgery, should have been off 1 month but i am managing.

i will go slower on vert til i learn how to fall right. most ask me 2 quit but i want 2 smile and b happy. most pain is still financial. i hurt and my bf has 2 deal w/ me being crabby and irritable so poor guy suffers 2. so if i get crabby here, i apologize. i like all sk8s btw, we all r there 4 same reason, mean no harm. i will go lie down and grunt and groan and complain for a short bit to try to get it all out lol. then i will go 4 my happy walk!

Melbourne is probably worst just after Tasmania, but a lot better than Freiburg or New York.

well think ive done my time, i certainly will charish every time i sk8 from now on! but ive never been 2 germany so i would love to see where i come from 1 day too. i would enjoy sk8n any ramp w/ u! i hope next yr i will see another vert sk8r sk8. i am not sure how long this will take 2 heal but i think the longboard w/ a stick will b my fun this year. the bowls might have 2 wait a bit. im learning patience..... and my left knee still aches from oct. but i can fully use it so maybe just pt for that too.
