Are you a roller skater yourself?

: Just wondering if any body out there knows of any aggresive quad rollerskate videos?

I do have two: "Air Attack" produced by Rene Hulgreen and "Skate Eight" by Brian Wainwright.

: And what your thouts are on makeing and marketing one.

I'd surely want a copy. And I think the regulars of this forums would be interested, too. That aren't very many and I believe you can't make lots of money this way.

Rene sold his video himself. I don't think that he still has any copies. The video was produced 10 years ago!

As for Brian's stuff: Well, maybe he reads this and can say something about it.

I have Brian's video Skate Eight on CD. It is in Quicktime movie (.mpg) format. I can send you one, just give me an address and if you are on a PC or Mac computer. It's about 5 minutes long.
I was out in LA last month skating with Duke Rennie, Lee and Desi (all rollerskaters). Duke's wife, Karen, was nice enough to put together a video tape of our skate sessions, as well as some vintage roller/quad footage from the 80's (Fred Blood and the Turning Point see-through fiberglass fullpipe capsule). So, I have an almost 2 hour long video tape of just rollerskating skateparks (including Vans Orange and Upland's fullpipe) and what a treat that is! I know all of you have had to rewind that occasional quick peep of rollerskating within skateboarding videos. I am in the process of converting the video tape into DVD, preserving the treasure (the original video is over 10 years old). I'm not sure how well a rollerskating book or video/DVD would sell, but I would put one together for myself. I do want to do a book about all of us. Soon....stay tuned!

If I had a copy of Air Attack by Rene Hulgreen, I could transfer it onto DVD. I would love to see it. I saw Rene skate in NYC once on inlines many years ago, during a contest and he was the first inliner to really impress me. I remember the Viking flip.
Watching the 2003 X Games Inline Vert, the younger Japanese skater does that trick really tweaked out about 10 feet out. Those two brothers are amazing inliners, alway taking first and second place. They are untouchable.

Hello:
A friend of mine have the "Eight Wheels Show One" and the "Air Attack" recorded in the same tape. It's VHS PAL system. If I finally get the video from him I will try to put it on DVD. I will keep the forum informed.

There's also a special video that I have seen and that I don't know were is now. It's a home video recorded by Francisco Burgos at the World Cup 90 in Münster. It has some images of the rollerskaters that skated there (as well as the spanish skaters that travelled to the contest then). The most impressive thing of the video is the moment when Brian Wainwright twisted his knee in the middle of a round. It was the thing that allowed Marcos Longares to become the winner of that contest. If I can get this video again I will try to put all this stuff together into the same DVD.

I would love copies of any rollerskating footage, in whatever format VHS/DVD. See my post 878 (sorry, wrong email address, see above for correct one) and 879. The pic from 878 is the Vans Orange Combi bowl. It's 12-13' high, all cement and pool coping.

Europe uses the PAL system for VHS and TV format. North America uses the NTSC system. The two are not compatible but there are video services out there (check the Yellow pages) that can convert one to the other.

Most of the ones here in North America only play NTSC. I know a lot of the ones for the Europe-Asia market play more than one format since there are several in use through that area.

I've found Air Attack uploaded recently to yt, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfZFU8xXINw

Quality isnt that great but I suppose its comming from an overcopied vhs tape...

If any of you have VHS tapes, please digitize them (you can find info on that here for example http://unclutterer.com/2008/05/01/how-to-digitally-encode-vhs-home-movies/), then upload them to youtube or any of the like.

VHS tapes will eventualy degrade and die. Please do digitize these gems! =)

Thanks for sharing! Rene Hulgren (the producer of this video) had this on his web site (linked to on the resources page, but this web siute does not seem to exist any more.

Digital media are even worse. But making lots of copies and sharing on the internet has the best chance to preserve stuff.
