OK, fakie I'm not good at so thats a good idea! I just need something to work on. I really want to jump stuff though which seems insane to me lol. I dont think off a curb is a big deal? What sucks is for the next Fri and Sat it will rain and work Sun. Its always raining here it seems which sucks. I prefer to ride bike off road and skate means no rain. Maybe Mon. Why isnt the little bowl closer? I just dont care much for the kiddie park. The halfpipe there is small but also really compact. At least the little bowl has some flow to it.

: Try learning pumping techniques. Find a half pipe or bowl, and go back and forth. Go up the ramp without turning around. Come down fakie and pump it as you go up, and as you go down. This will teach balance in both directions, as well as the technique of pumping, instead of "skating" while riding ramps.
:
: This will open up much more than you can imagine. It also teaches you how to prepare for going up backwards (fakie). Start out small, and only go higher and higher when you feel up to it. Also try it in side stance. This will teach you all directions while you are in the early stages of learning, which will help expand your trick vocabulary later on, when you get better and better!
:
: Cheers!

: : I'm really dying to roll the bowls again! Just I'm craving to do more. I kinda feel like its a tease to roll so been trying to focus that crave to do tricks on my bike and uni as I find this is fairly safe and my skill level is less so dont need to do risky tricks. But as much fun as I'm having I want to roll with the skates. What can I do to push myself that doesnt put me at risk right now so I dont feel like I'm being teased? By that I mean I cant get the rush if I'm just carving. Even the curbs tempt me a lot as I dont know if they are risky or just fun to jump off lol. In my head I want to fly. My BMX does a good job, for some reason still want to do it on skates. ;-P

How does your arm deal with riding your bike?I would have thought if your arms up for riding then skating is also on the cards,,carefuly of course.
I say go and ride a ramp and teach yourself to bail to your knees,so handy and not real risky while learning.

cheers joe

The bike weighs a lot less then slamming my whole body but taking it slowly cause lifting too much weight sometimes gives me muscle spasms and at times I have soreness at the end of the plate, not where the fracture is. So far my Dr. said once its no big deal but taking it slowly. He said with the spasms lessen lifting but this week so far OK!

I guess its OK to go slowly. Still not sure when insurance ends. I dont think the baby bowl would make me fall hard enough to break anything though. I just get bored if I dont try something with some challenge or more excitement. But now I hear its going to rain again. It seems to rain almost non stop here recently!! :-O Yeah, April showers, blah.......

dont kid yourself, small bowls can still cause fractures, treat them all with respect. hey, i fell off the board and banged myself up. my advice is get onto the biggest 1/2 pipe and just work it fakie + kickturning to regain confidence. dont forget, the bigger the transition the more forgiving to roll, ie. time to plan ahead. practise bailing aswell. most importantly stay within the envelope.
ok nuf sed, get on the horse and have some fun.
cheers, h .

: Still not sure when insurance ends.

** Most big companies have automated systems to check your account. You could call it, each time, BEFORE you go try some aggressive stunts. :) Or, if they do not have an automated line, just call and ask a real live person the status of your account. I'm sure that they will be happy to tell you when it has been terminated. **

Yes but still if I broke myself today and was insured, doesnt mean tomorrow I will have it. Broken bones take months to heal, new casts, $300 ortho visits, PT. So really not wise to risk anything now honestly I think. Since I have some minor soreness at the end of the plate, will wait til Monday to see if that is of concern. If not I have to chill on rollerskates. With the bike I almost never fall, including the uni. I jump onto my feet.

No big halfpipes here. Would the kiddie park with big drop in ramps be better then a bowl?
