|Oh, I'll learn it! One day I will try to take my camera there or maybe Holly might come but I dont think she would want to. But I'm not old, gotta catch up to Irene before I even consider it!!
: Claudine, I doubt I am much of a teacher, but as I said I plan on making you a little video when I have someone to take it. If you can get someone at your park to video you, then I am sure some of the amazing skaters on this site can give some suggestions. I don't think there is much more you can do to progress. It sounds like you are learning very fast. Just think, I used to be half way good and now I am just carving. Unfortunately, you are not only learning a very hard sport, but it is probably twice as hard doing it at our age. I remember back in the day, 22 years old was considered very old. I will be 39 in a few days and skating is quite hard on our bodies.I really wish our small community could get together and have a couple of days of skating.
: : Well, besides street and speed skating in the rink, I'm really only skating 2 places for parks. My local park is now closed til Spring, so I will go to this one now. Later, I will also go out to Landsdowne one day which is like a shallow bowl or the bowl in Greenbelt if its nice. Havent yet though cause I want to learn basics well first before the bowls. Mostly I will go just once a week or two to this one skate park. Its a far drive so I cant go more often. I think I need to learn how to pump better and a few tricks first. The ramps are up and down and simple and as of yet, not bored of them.
: : I'm skating one run that they have and this tiny mini pipe. There are 3 runs. This mini is only 3 feet or so deep, probably boring to you guys but perfect for a newbie like me at tricks since its all drop in, coping, coping, coping lol. And since I bail a lot from just starting lip tricks, the fall isnt bad. I skated the 6 foot halfpipe below, but that was pretty steep for me to really get a good pump out of it yet so I just ride it for now. Plus the other side of the halfpipe is a vert. wall, so no coping! I'm learning parts of this new skatepark at a time. I just wanted to check out the other one and its really a street set up with no ride which is not my main thing. I'm happy that I'm using my sliders now!! I did a nice job. I wish you could try my sliders because I think you would LOVE them!!
: : I wish you lived close by. I would love you to show me a few things cause I havent seen another roller skater ever do tricks so I'm spinning my wheels. This is exciting though! I'm proud of how far I've gotten in 6 months when I started. :-D
: : : Claudine, I am sure you did great and just need to get used to your set up. I personally would have trouble riding so many different pairs of skates. I think it is awesome you are skating so many different types of terrain and it will pay off in the long run, but it might make sense to session one place on a regular basis so that you can get used to it. It is really hard when you don't have other rollerskaters to skate with. I wish that we all could get together and skate, but unfortunately everyone on this site lives so far away from each other. I just met up with some really cool skateboarders from my other forum and it was nice skating with people that I sort of know. I plan on making the hour drive and meeting up with them at their local park.

: : : : I had a great time at Charmcity skatepark again! Today, I did the full run and went down and back on the 5 1/2-6 foot halfpipe at the end of it too. And I manage to do a backside stall!!! Just one successful one! In the process, I also did a face plant, hip plant, knee plants, azz plant, etc lol. I donno, just lookin goofy trying I guess! I even succeeded in doing the one bail that Lisa has on her site of her first time doing 50-50s. So too bad its not on film cause I would have a nice "watch me hurt myself" video going for everyone to entertain themselves. But I had fun and got at least one backside stall down!
: : : :
: : : : But the problem I'm having is that I guess a screw on the coping is gone or something cause the coping is very low. So low that when I drop in, I'm standing on my rear wheels since there isnt enough to clasp on in most places. I dont remember it being this low last time. But this made it really hard to clasp on for the stalls too. I was mostly stalling the wood edge today. Then when I tried the 50-50, my wheels were too big so I didnt actually grind the rail, my wheels just caught and I went slamming! Since its a tiny ramp, the slope is not near vertical so that interferes too I think.
: : : :
: : : : So are 64mm wheels too big for this? I guess I now understand why Lisa rides 56mm because on this small ramp that would have worked better for the lip tricks. If so, which wheel would be good? I like the 95a range wheel. I'm light and that has a good roll/slight grip ratio for me.

: : : : Also, disappointed in the bearings. I really noticed no difference in speed. I'm sure if I were cruising, they would roll longer before slowing down, but on short sprints, the top speeds werent much different then my abecs. The roll was sweet though, very smooth, no grittiness at all, so the roll was tops, but no noticeable change in my performance ie speed or airs. Most things I've changed on my setup have had a dramatic improvement so it was worth every penny, this just made the roll feel nicer. Honestly, I think the REDS wouldnt feel too much different. Would I notice more of a difference in the bowls and larger ramps? Right now I'm trying to get some lip tricks, so keeping on the baby ramp for now so I dont smash my head or break something! I guess the fact they will last longer makes up for the extra cost of the bearings, but I was hoping for crazy amounts of speed.
: : : :
: : : : I would like to do 50-50s now also, but cant since my trucks dont touch the coping with such large wheels. I'm thinking they are also causing problems on the backside stalls? Are these wheels best for bowls? They are great at the outdoor skatepark and larger ramps but that was before I was trying lip tricks. I dont want slower wheels though. I also dont really want to invest in a wheel if its only good for this one ramp. Confused.......... Just wish the wheels were smaller for this ramp anyways.
: : : :
: : : : I'm pretty stoked about the one backside stall though! :-D
