I think you are right. We did hit each other simultaneously.
As to my thoughts, the slider plates could be longer. Gaps between the sliders and the trucks provide a spot that can hang up. I personally, also like a solid slider plate. The cap between the two bars of uhmw will cause the two 'side wall' sliders to actually work a bit against one another as they vibrate from friction. It also provides another area that could potentially catch on something.
That being said, I think they are a fantastic back up pair of skates for emergencies! Now you have me thinking of back up skates.....just in case.
