Damn bastard! I donno Irene. You can join my group. But I have no group, just me lol. A lonely roller skater. I think hes just being an ass. I wish I could lend you my case worker. She just got me out of a $100 fine for having a broom on my patio. I'm not sure how she did it but she has "authority." Thats what you need and then you can roll anytime! I'm not sure how to get that for this situation.....

I've come across this problem which I've never experienced before. I feel like I've been banished and exiled and I've committed no crime. Mostly, I am missing out on good times with my friends here, at least once a week. Besides not having many options during fall and winter to skate.
Check this out and lemme know what u thinks:

Hi Todd,

My name is Irene. We met just once before, when I skated with Jennifer and company. She drove us in from Manhattan. You were kind enough to lend me your skateboard. It's a great bowl and I'd love to skate there again.
I just wanted to confirm about taking the bus from the city and pickups to and from your park.

One other important question is: Will you allow me to skate?
I've been rolling for 30+ years in the NYC/Tri-state area, am 48 yrs old and watched a few of your team members progress for years.
Talk to Frank, Jesse and Gaby or any other vert skaters from the city.
This is not the typical rollerskating or rollerskates.
Hopefully, I can be the exception to the rule, cuz some rules are meant to be broken.

Hey Irene,

I was a former national speed skater in the late 70's and long time rollerskater, however we made a deal with out insurance company as follows; allow only skateboarding and we'll allow a no helmets required for skaters over the age of 18 (which has paid us back in spades). That choice was one that we just confirmed again when renewing our insurance a few weeks ago. Nothing personal, just we are not covered for it and can not take the risk. In 1983 I use to skate vert on two NJ ramps with Reidell boots, Suregrips, modified hangars (I think Tracker) and kryptonics fun fun fun. Again, I hope that you don't take it personally and understand that it was a business decision we made.

On another note I will pickup any size group coming from the city. Just call ahead.

Thanks

This is a reply from my good buddy (owner of 5boro Skateboards here in NYC)

Hey Irene- weird... I would say get some form that basically lets you skate at your own risk or something? At the end of the day it's his park and he sets the rules but I do think it's pure bullshit. Maybe ask a lawyer what you would need to satisfy their policy? SteveR

-------------------------

Now, my buddies have voluntarily tried to talk to him, being regular paying customers($15/session), still no dice. They say he knows who I am, but no one I've spoken to has ever heard of him. Seems odd for a guy who's been around my turf for 30 yrs. I heard he's in full pads and still can't skate. WTF???
Signed, I'm no hater, but I may start now, Irene

 That's total crap.

I think that what Jay was experiencing is now what you are experiencing. I think that they want to keep rollerbladers out, and that they associate what you do as a step toward having to let inliners into their park as well. Meaning that inline skaters will say "Hey, you let her in, why not us?!"

"Hate, it is a terrible thing"
