Wow Irene, that is really cool! I have to say that our community is filled with such an amazing group. When I skated, I was only 11 years old. I was too young to really appreciate the amazing skaters. I skated with Duke last night and got to hear him share stories with Pat Nohgo(sp) and it made me realize how young I was at the time. I missed out on a lot of years, but now I am fortunate enought to have a great network of rollerskaters to remember the old memories and make new ones. I am stoked to have new skaters like Claudine who has put more hospital time than most of us. lol

  IreNe!!
That's Hella-Cool. I never thought you were serious about the cards! Too Sweet. Killer shot of Joe. HUGE FS action. Lovin it.
I'll get my info & fav pics together soon. Of course I don't have any killer FS aerial shots cuz I don't DO FS aerials! But I'll see what I can scrape up.
I gotta agree with Robert. We're members of a very cool, very creative community.
You Rule, IreNe!!

But that's one cool picture! You boldly look directly into the camera and as the icing on the cake, you wear a really rare green sticker on your helmet. No, this sticker isn't the main reason why I like this picture.

There is a Wikipedia article about trading cards. They are small cardboard cards with images of persons on it. Often those are well known sports stars. The idea is to collect them all. The business modell behind commerical trading cards is to make some of them scarce so that you have to buy loads of those less scarce ending up with lots of duplicates and still lacking the rare ones. You will try to trade them with fellow collectors, offering much more of the less scarce cards for a scarce one. Often they are used as incentive to buy some unrelated product, e.g. breakfast cereals. You know there is a trading card in the box, but you don't know which. In this way you end up buying 10 times as much breakfast cereal boxes than you can eat.

All-bran: "Flavorful crackers with a light, crispy texture, filled with the goodness of wholesome grains. And each tasty serving has 20 % of your daily value of fiber. It's a deliciously simple way to get the fiber you want." Sounds yummy! Marketeers at their best. I would buy it if there where a Joe Knackers in the box.

 Noo, that's not Joe's real name..haha
... just used the pic for the sample cuz its rad!

My thoughts for having these cards made and available developed from purely selfish needs.
People ask about rollerskating and I wanted to have a way for them to research it further on their own.
A picture card loaded with info, most importantly, with links to videos, tutorials, how-tos, events, etc.
The idea is to get more people interested in and trying rollerskating, esp in skateparks.
It's a way to spread to the fun, open communication and add more rollerskaters to the mix.
For me, I just wanted to have a way to give out info to those who inquire.

I will print and publish only what you are comfortable with. There is no pressure to participate. Everything is optional, personal and customized to suit your wishes. Of course, I need permission for use of any photos. This is not for profit and purely voluntary. I need to look into printing costs and quantities. Open to suggestions/ideas.

IreNe, I think you've got something there. This would be a really cool way to promote vertical roller skating a bit, escpecially with the younger generation. I think the young ones are very much into this stuff. My experience is that even my Sk8Mag.de stickers are very much desired by them. And those trading cards: Wow! I would like to have a bunch, too, and I'm willing to pay for them accordingly. Heck, I even like to have them for myself!

Just imagine putting a few of them into a bag and distributing those bags. Once you get them started looking for missing cards ...

Ironically, I showed Holly your skating. Now, she wants us to do an Aussie Down Under vacation next, so as we can meet and skate with you. If we come, you have to promise to keep your Old fella away from my Sheila! Heh heh.
