 Hi all,

it's been a while, but now I have added a new interview page. Perry Gruner answered my questions in February.

Enjoy!

Seems there were some things that drove him away from skating that he prefers to keep private. I hate to see quad skaters lose interest. We have so few as it is! However, that does make each of us a little more special. No....not that kind of "special"!!

Only he would't have called himself a "quad skater". Inline skating was still not in the ramps back then.

But you are absolutely right: He definitely is a loss! Obviously he impressed me so much 20 years ago that I still wanted to publish an interview with him.

Hi guys, Perry was and still is a good friend, he was my classmate too. I still see him sometimes when we meet at the shopping mall or at school reunions. So many skaters have come and went away again for various reasons. I think Perrys main reasons where injuries and other priorities as we go on in life. We always talk about the old times in a good mood when we meet. Some stay, some go, thats it thats all. No hard feelings. Chris

Top stuff MrB.With all the interviews with untalented pop/rock stars and shit actors in mags,TV and internet, it's rad to read about people who are on the same wavelength.Keep em comming MrB.Maybe one of us should do you and have you post it up too.

Thanks for the kind words, Joe. Indeed, keeping it real and relevant is one of the key motivations behind doing this site. I haven't forgotten about your interview, it's only that I've been sick in February and then Perry's answeres came in and I wanted to put that up.

I'm also flattered by your idea of doing an interview with me. Chris also did this a few years ago (we wanted to publish it in Sk8Mag.de) but then found the photos I had from me not very exciting. But I'd be glad to put up interviews or event reports or how-tos from anyone (reminds me that there is something waiting to be published in my drawer).

I can't venture a guess as to wether Perry will roll again. I haven't met him since the day and it seems unlikely. But it does happen from time to time. Alex is rolling again and he didn't have any skates of his own for about 10 years. And you have seen him skating on video. But I know him much better than Perry and I always was very confident that he'll skate again.

Captcha is: mangoes harmful. Well, I wouldn't have guessed!

Ah, OK, I can clarify that. His full name is Alexander Schell. Back in the times he created kind of fakie hand-plant 360 flip, which we used to call a Schellfisch (probably shell fish in plain English, we Germans like to have our sh with a c sandwiched in). Schnitt is cut which means that he played around with his video application and compiled the takes I did with a cheap digi cam, also adding a few special effects. The music is also by him and a friend of his. And, of course, he is the one riding the St. Gallen bowl in the video. You can see a few stills of him in our St. Gallen spot check.
