Hey Bernard.....Biff & all my other 8-wheeled friends.
I just got off the phone with Mr. Rennie. He'd gotten wind (no doubt from his lovely better 1/2 KP) of a thread Biff posted on RollerSkate World(with a killer pic of Duke doing a layback air) about his being Sponsored by Pro-Designed.

http://www.gravity.com/rollerskate/9302/duke-rennie-factory-rider-for-pd-inc

While I can't speak for Mr Wild Bill as I don't know him (no free pads for these old bones!LOL) I CAN speak for Duke & he verifies the "rumor". Biff's credibility is unblemished!:D Mr. Duke Rennie IS now officially sponsored by Pro-Designed outta Houston, TX. And I say, about fug'n time! Duke is the nicest guy on 8 wheels & the most natural and fluid skater I have ever seen. He makes everything he does look like we all should be able to do it. But don't be fooled. You probably can't. I know i sure can't!
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know.
PEACE
Jay

Not sure quite yet, as I was just talking to Wild Bill-who owns Pro-Designed, but it looks like he is going to pick up Duke Rennie as a factory rider. Basically, it means product sponsorship.

Are you sure it's OK for Wild Bild that you are (possibly) spreading rumours?

  Hey Biff.
That's Gr8 news. I can't think of a better representation of our sport than my gr8 friend Duke. 1st Powell (again!) now Pro-Designed! Go, Duke!
And, don't worry Bernard. I won't spread any premature sponsorship rumors! LOL!
PEACE

That makes a lot of sense. 187 pads are dominating the derby market and probably the entire skateboard market. PD needs a legend to be repping their stuff.

Rumors have no basis.

Ah, as precise as ever. I keep on refining my English with a little help by teacher Biff all the time. Thank you! :-)

How about this: "Are you sure it's OK for Wild Bill that you are spreading information that is (possibly) not to be disclosed just yet?"

:

Either he gets sponsored, or he doesn't. I don't think Bill would get mad at me for just telling this group here.

I got the strong impression from Bill that he was going to do it. He asked me for my opinion, as I already ride for Bill, and I backed the idea of sponsoring Duke.

I think that's the point. It's easy to forget that this is a public forum, visible to everybody who has access to the world wide web.

I think it's a very good choice, too.

I have not forgotten that. Besides, really.......how many millions do you think are flocking here to see this?? :P
I know a search for a name might lead someone here to see this thread, but they will most likely already know the vert skating world.

Just to ease your conscience, I'll contact Bill and find out if he took Duke under his wing.

 ***NEWS FLASH***

"He (Duke) has committed to working with P.D., Inc. as a factory rider."

That was just sent to me by Wild Bill. :P~~~~

It's not my conscience that't at stake here ... ;-)

Just to give some background: Every now and then I get contacted by users of my other skating forums, requesting removal of some posting.

Anyhow, it's really good news that Duke is PD factory rider now that it's official. :-)

Vert quadskaters getting sponsored. Sounds exciting.

[dramatic narrator voice]
Will we get a revival? Will Bernhard need to put a phpBB or joomla forum for a better overview of all the newbies joining in? Or will the authorities shut us down before our rise to success?

Read all the answers to these questions on this forum, in the future.

Yuck! Quite frankly, I don't like phpBB. I think it's linear modell of a discussion thread is inferior. I do acknowledge, however, that people tend to be used to phpBB simply because it is so widespread.

: Or will the authorities shut us down before our rise to success?

Which authorities?

Indeed, I'm very happy about this course of events.

Duke is an extremely stylish roller skater and a very nice guy. I very much enjoyed meeting him in person and seeing him skate.

Maybe it's the beginning.... how cool it'd be if sponsoring rollerskaters became the new trend. What's old becomes new again!
I think skateboard companies should jump on this, like some did in the past.
Be great to sprout a whole new generation of vert rollers
Congratulations, Duke!
...not a better choice around for PD and Bones
