Check it out!
I've first been to a parking lot for half an hour to see if I can do the basics and get a feeling for the skates, then I've hit the pool.
The first run you see there was really my first run there. It was scary, it was different, it was AWESOME!
Still gotta get used to it, and in the meantime I still have some improvements to do on my quads. Like an extra nut here and softer bushings there...

By the way, can any of you name me a few brands of helmets featuring headphone space?

WOW, looks like you had FUN!! I'm digging watching you. I'm totally game already for a roll tomorrow to practice. Well I have to say you are adjusting nicely. Enjoying the rocking motion and carving? ;-D I wish I had a bowl like that here. I'll have to go out some soon and get to the other bowls I enjoyed.

I loved that!! You definitely have an edge on a lot of people as you really know how to attack a ramp. Once you really get comfortable on quad aggressive skates, you are going to be killing it!!!

Thanks for the vid. Very nice.

I wasn't planning on literally killing it, although killing the idiots sitting on the coping doesn't sound like a bad idea. ;)
It takes a lot of getting used to, that's for sure. Now I also feel what you meant by inline frames being too narrow a slider. On my next baseplate, whenever that's gonna be realised, I'll either attach two pairs of inline frames parallel to each other or I'll see if I can do something else. Gambin's Stickywear sliders look really good, but cutting through UHMW myself sounds like going through hell.

Thanks for watching. :) 81 views in just two days. That's good, maybe if I spread it enough on hyves, the main dutch social networking site, I might convert some inliners.

I'm glad to have inspired you. The rocking motion was enjoyed most in the first run. I didn't quite think over how I should lean in that first corner. Somehow I like falling when I know it doesn't damage anything. So yeah, I'm busy with making my second toeguard out of necessity after the damage the first session made, but still it was hella fun.
Not to mention the thrill of having your inner wheels bump into each other while carving. *Carve, carve, carve... "Huh?", next second, you lie on the floor checking if you didn't damage your boots*
Fantastic!

I also like seeing parallel stance riders doing cool stuff on youtube. Makes me feel less of a total loser for not being lean enough for sidestance. You've gotta do something to distract you from being jealous of the sidestancers out there.

I'll check out more of your videos soon, if I haven't seen them all yet. From what I recall, I saw videos from a year ago of you riding very insecure, and videos of now showing much improvement. Keep at it, the future's bright!
I'll tell you a true story to encourage you. I broke my foot when I was twelve, more than a year before I started skateboarding. You know how? I ran at home with flipflops.
Can you imagine? Fudging flipflops!
I never broke anything in my career of skateboarding and inline skating, so although the logic is a bit crude, it doesn't affect the bottomline: Being in a skatepark is safer than being at home.
(That is, until a bmxer rides into you with his lump of steel, but fortuna has spared me that fate until now, fortunately.)

That was great. Switching from inline to quads is not easy. I remember having a lot of trouble getting used to inlines and then when I got back on quads it was really difficult. You are skating very well.

Your compliments were like sunshine in a rain of vuvuzelas.
The entire city is in an anarchic state right now because of the soccer match. You can make as much noise as you want, vandalise any public or private property, as long as you're wearing something orange. You can even beat up people not wearing orange, because clearly, they deserve it if they don't support 11 guys running after a ball, representing the pride of the country.

Nothing against soccer, but really, couchsitting and quaffing beer is not a sport.

Ah well, at least my stereo can handle the noise if I set it louder, and if they're consequent in their tolerance of all the other crap it shouldn't be a problem, right? Conformist rednecks...

Rant rant rant. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, thanks for telling me I'm skating very well. I wish my boots could keep up with me skating(and bailing) very well, because I really need to go on making my right toeguard now and see how heel- and sideguard could work out.

It is a hell of a difference, that one was obvious from the beginning on, but when I attempted those one-hander 180s of mine, the weight became obvious. But I can feel the extra speed of 4 more wheels, harder wheels and twice as many bearings. This is gonna be a hell of a summer. Next session is planned tomorrow. I should invite some non-cyberspace friends.

 Exactly! That's what I meant.
Fudgin' idiots.

Imagine us acting that way... Killing each other because one bets on BN Wainwright and the other on Rene Hulgreen to win a vert championship(unlikely scenario these days, but I lacked inspiration). Considering our numbers, quad vert skating would very soon become as alive as dinosaurs and dodos.

Have fun with your stickers! You deserve them.

Hahaha, glad you are LOVING it! I tried inlines once and they reminded me of trying to run in a straight jacket. Thats why I love trucks. There is movement-rocking motion and for me that increases the FUN. You really seem to be catching on quick. Those videos are pretty much all over a year ago. I am just getting back into it now. When they took the plates and screws outta my arm, I was terrified to rebreak it. I am just starting to catch back up. A year ago it was a year off from the original break so the first times out I was pretty scared. I'm really enjoying getting back into it. :-D I really dig the fakie you do. I cant get that down for some reason.

I've learnt riding fakie at a small funbox-thing. Just relax, ride up a meter, then let your fakieleading foot(for some reason in my case it's the right foot, making riding fakie with a skateboard similar to inline and quads, as I ride regular) go behind you, lean on it and look behind your shoulder. In fact, it's a very comfortable stance with, at least theoretically, more stability.
IIRC, I once read pro inliners like landing fakie for the security and the credit given

My right toeguard didn't end up too badly. I'll catch the toeguards on film tonight, so you'll see how they ended up.

That was the first time in a skatepark, yes. The transition from skateboard to inline 5 years ago went very well, too. Back then I was like, "dropping in is always the same, just lean forward and do it with conviction." Guess I kept that motivation in me.

Gotta go catch some concrete waves now, see ya! You'll get some footage, promised!
