tips for the spine? :-D!
Hi, Claudine!
What's up?
Well. At the first time I'm very happy for you and for you evolution. I think that moving the spine is a good idea to bring shin guards.
And in the first time: You have would try to pass the spine (double coping) with one foot. You make a smooth jump with descision and put one foot on the double coping. At the same time you need to put the other foot in the next ramp for land it, and rolling.
After that enjoy and shouts of joy, hehehe
About the wheels: You need to probe diferents kinds of durometer. In my case always I use 103a, 62mm, for my this kind are perfect, but I think for you the best opcion will be to probe at first time with 85a and after that 95, 96 or 97a.The diameter up to you. The bigger to run more. Smaller for lip tricks to make more and better handling.
I hope that the info help you. And sorry for my English.
I hope that you understand me. hehehehe

Cheers and skate and smile. : )

Well I went over the spine today! Total impulse, finally lol. YESSSS!!!!!!! Anyway, its like 2 halfpipes together so there are 2 copings next to each other. I get on it and step back in the next ramp but I guess I get scared or freeze or something dumb and my left foot is on the coping on the other ramp so I put that knee down and step in the other ramp with my right foot. I did this 3 times in a row lol. I got some pretty bruises on my shin developing lol. So maybe the obvious is to pick up my left foot or jump in but hints seriously lol? I will wear shin guards next time so I dont have war wounds to show for my progress hehehehehe.

Also guys, this is a kiddie park with asphalt and the skatelite/wood ramps transition with these metal pieces so bumpy and uneven. I'm skating with 96a 59mm wheels now and they rattle. Should I change to the rainskates 85a wheels? I think they are 58mm so smaller, wider which is harder on the tiny ramps but I REALLY need something that rolls better and faster on the asphalt as that is like a mud pool when I'm skating and I have to move to the bigger halfpipe where the center is the asphalt. I have some slightly softer 58mm 95a ones too but those are my options. I think I"m out of shape so maybe thats why I am not going fast enough. Just I need some SPEED!

I also dropped in on the 7 - 7 1/2 foot quarter, not vert though and got over both humps with stoppers on fine. I figured out how to pump them to get over the 2nd larger one. No more splint, stoked!

Best news, feeling great now and the weather might have cooled so hopefully I can get to the kiddie park DAILY. I guess lip tricks and working my way to the 8 foot quarter pipe will be some my goals. Yo, I'm digging the spine so help me out guys. Thanks!

Peace love and wheels, heehehhehe

Definitely try the 85a wheels. That will work better on asphalt. It will be a bit gummy on skatelite and ramps, but not enough to trouble you.

As to your spine issues, it would help to see video. I think, from what you are saying, that it might be best to just 'barely' air over the copings. Either that, or try to stall on the coping of the ramp you will be going into, and not the one you are leaving. Then, just roll into it.

Really happy for your progress, Claudine!! Good luck!!!
(post video of that spine transfer!!)

The problem I have is when I step in the next ramp, there are 2 pieces of coping and my feet are small so my skate does not fall into the next ramp. My front wheels hit the next piece of coping. I'm sure I'll figure it out! lol.

I've been rolling with 96a wheels. Maybe for this park I'll try the 85a since the asphalt is rough. THanks! ;-D!!

OK seems like I might just have to jump them as to stand and lean forward its like my skate wheels hit the next piece. I will put on shin guards and figure it out. I went without others there so noone to video me. Plus I'd rather get a video of me doing rather then smashing my shins lol.

The hard wheels are a little rattley on the ashpalt so yeah, 85a sounds better. I'll see how that goes. I want to do the bigger halfpipe and that is 2 quarters onto asphalt. Hehehehe, skating is too damn much fun, love it! I'm going today again. Legs are sore lol.

Claudine, one issue you may have is that you have small feet. When I hit a spine, I go straight up and not out. I just hit the coping with my foot and go in. I find spines very scary, but always go over them with no problem. Just go up as if you are coming out of a ramp and put your foot down and go in. It is so nice.

Yeah the small feet are killing me on the lip tricks. My hamstring is tight today so I'l wait til it loosens up but I'm guessing either I need to use the coping to spring off of to jump over the next one or just air them. Either way I plan on NAILING it the next time, hehehe.

Only once, fell 6 times, soooo HAPPY! LOL! I stalled it then jumped and went it. Lost speed but it was AWESOME! I just freeze on the coping I think. Oh what a beautiful day it is!!

The 85a rainskate wheels are a touch slower but MUCH smoother on the asphalt and dont slow down as much on the asphalt. SO its a good deal. After I nail the spine more I will move onto the larger halfpipe that goes onto asphalt.

Now I need the guts to JUMP it!

Woohoo! I'm glad that you didn't hurt yourself (much) and I'm so stoked that you are having fun with learning something new. I've been skating myself yesterday but have to report nothing as awesome like you! Except that I have fond memories of the spines I rode in the past ...

I'm VERY happy I am making progress again and can skate without injury! I am wearing shin guards. With them I do not hurt myself. I am trying to take it slow so I dont pull muscles getting back into shape too. I am having TONS of fun!!

I'm glad you went skating too Bernhard, yay! Roller skates are so much fun, its insane!
