How to build a vert skate is up
: Oh, I can submit it to you once I'm done! At least until I get more rollerskating stuff on my site.

And I will gladly present it on the how-to section.

: My site needs a lot of work still lol.

Yeah, those evil web sites always eat up your precious time! ;-) I have also some ideas for this site, but I can't do everything at once. There is a lot of usability stuff that I want to do.

: I built it before I knew much about programming.....and I'm just now getting serious about it but wont really mess with it tons til I feel I know my stuff.

I think it is very useful to have some web skills. Those are probably easier to sell than artistic skills. And the nice thing about the web is that you can even combine both a bit.

Very informative and I applaude you for your great information. I would like to learn how to bypass a rollerksate plate and just put a flat piece of medal or woode that I can attach skateboard trucks to the way you would a skateboard. I knwo a lot of skaters have done this and I wish I could make that type of set up. I find wide trucks attached to a rollerskate plate makes the stucks come to a stop while turning hard or grinding whereas skateboard trucks seem to keep going and allowing a 50/50 grind. I find, if I turn too hard or put too much weight on a grind, then I stop and fall forward.

The only difference I would think is that you would need a straight edge to line up the trucks on the board, drill and attach one side of each truck into the board. Make a center line on the board of the center of the trucks, attach 4 bolts into the board and the boot. I think thats the difference! I would just be really lost as far as grind bars..... I am looking into "plates" now too. I think if you did metal, you would either need really good tools or find someone to cut it for you. Glad to hear you liked it! I'm surprised, it didnt take me long to do at all. I guess I'm "getting" the basic web design stuff.

I think making a plate will be my next project. But not in the next week lol. I still havent been given a work date yet. :-( Next week I will just look for a basic admin. job right in the area. Not great for the future or great income but I could skate more then and would have health insurance.

I hope your problem isnt a problem with the narrow ramp trucks. I just ordered those.......

Congrats to your nice how-to! The images work fine and I think linking them to a larger version is useful, too. I will put links to your stuff on my resources page.

I came across this set up of Lee Ettinger's while on rollergirl's site. This is what I want. I want the skateboard set up. Does anyone know the advantages or disadvantages of either set up? It seems the trucks don't turn the opposite way and make you pull forward. By the way, many years ago I saw Lee on his quads while I was doing my first inline skate comp. I ended up skating a few sessions with him while he was doing inline. Can't say I knew the guy, but very cool and very good. It seems vert inline is either coming back or never left, but I think there is more to come. I always liked my inline buddies, but recently talked to an oldschool quad skater that said they gave him a real hard time. Oh, and I learned yesterday Tony Alva is turning 50. Crazy!

Cons: The skateboard trucks method is much heavier I was told. Maybe not a problem for you, for me right now yes until my legs get super strong.

Ready made plates for them will be almost impossible to find now.

Pros: If you make them yourself (the plates), you can fine tune the position of the trucks to being exactly were you like them.

It would be easier to make homemade sliders and attach them between the trucks on the flat plate for grinding.

......ask Irene?? I think she just built a set up like this! I dont know how they ride differently honestly but curious myself.
