Digital Cameras
: Wow, I can't believe I got through all of the posts. It was so awesome to pull up the forum and see so much activity. I guess the weather is keeping some of you from skating so you are on here to talk skate. Very cool!
:
: I would like to get some feedback from anyone that uses a digital camera at the skatepark. I belong to a skateboard forum and they always post amazing pictures and movies. I am going to buy one soon so that I can take a ton of pictures at the skatepark and hopefully get a few of myself. My friend on the other site said he uses the Canon S3. This thing takes amazing pictures and allows you to video. I am just curious if anyone has an amazing camera that shoots videos and works well at the skatepark? Once I get this camera I am going to be such a photog. I will be bad, but damn I will be one. Unfortunately, I will not have any rollerskaters to take pictures of. It will be fun to video the kids at the park and send them their movies over e-mail. I will get their dads to video me and I will share them on here. Claudine, I may even film a class on how to use toe stops. lol

Thanks Robert! I know nothing bout the cameras. Just now they have really cool ones and I want one soon too. Please share everything, including basic stuff like finding lines, stops and grinding. Majja and I will LOVE it!! I dont feel like working so I'm having a good ol time here lol.

Starting with a low cost one is good, at least you can keep it in your pocket when you buy a more expensive one. For me, it's important to have something compact(wearable)/robust/waterproof/taking, for taking action picts/vids in parks, windsurfing or snowboarding with my kids. Something like the Sanyo Xacti CA65 would be a good compromise for my use.

Bernhard nows much more than I do, but having a wide angle lens is really nice.

Wide angle is one reason why I am still shooting film. Another one is that slides are just best for large format presentation. Affordable digital projectors just don't come close to old-fashioned slides. You can use super wide angle lenses on full-format digital cameras, but those start at 2500 Euros. And until recently (that is two weeks ago) there weren't fish-eye lenses for smaller sensor digital cameras.

But the whole digital frenzy means that you now can get top notch film gear on the used market for about nothing. Hm, maybe I will buy me another film camera. At least film lasts for a few decades.

Is there a really cheap u-tube quality video camera you would suggest? I want one that shoots up to an hour so I can tape myself on my jumps and grinds/slides as I learn. Cant be expensive cause Santa might not have thought I was a good enough girl this year lol.

Now you got me! I know next to nothing about video cameras. I'm just an old-fashioned slide shooter ...

But the quality of about every camera should be sufficent for YouTube. Some newer digital photo cameras (e.g. the Casio Exilim EX-S880) even have the possibility to shoot videos which are optimized for YouTube.

I should have a personal conversation with him. You have been very good this year!

Well, I hope Santa listens to you! But since I've been out of work so long, I think that puts me on the naughty list...... Gosh, I want nice bearings, a video camera and tripod and some soap shoes and passes to the skatepark and gas and food and lol, gosh one day I should get clothes too lol. GREEDY!! :-D
