:
: He's using basketball shoes with an aluminum sole plate sandwiched between the shoe and plates. A very common setup in France.

Tell me more on the aluminum sole! I've got some $9 soccer shoes here waiting on a speed/jumping set up. I think with trucks forward mount, maybe just my probe plates cause then I can put on the ramp trucks if I like. So like 1mm aluminum? Cut it up with a jigsaw and use a drill?

Yeah, he can rip! Dudette wanna rip it up too!! :-D weather is crap so I'm having fun on u-tube daydreamin it up.

So Dave, would the basketball shoe be better for jumps? I was thinking that if I needed ankle support, I could just wear neoprene supports and have low cut boots. Then if I wanted, I could use them as speed skates too.

With Basket shoes, the aluminium sole is needed because the basket sole is soft and deforms to much when you skate or jump. They add weight to your skate (100-200g per skate) With soccers shoes, you don't need them. Eveything is explained here (sorry, it's in french)

This guy is soo crazy! You do find such crazy roller skaters in Paris. In Lausanne and Geneva there also are some crazy skaters of this sort. I'd be too much afraid to do handrails like this guy. Shudder!

About 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick. Probably too thick for a jigsaw. More likely a hacksaw or bandsaw. Since you're only a wee little lass you can maybe get away with the 1/16 thick.

Our weather has been crap for over a month.

Something that goes over the ankles would be better for jumping. The low cuts are fine for distance skating.

Well, I have my oak streets, love those but they are heavy. But I might have to stick with those for things I need support. I dont know if I could cut the aluminum cause I dont have special tools and my muscles are wee ones lol.

No skating 1 1/2 weeks now! Snow, now rain rain rain. No word back from the indoor speedskating. I think the inliners took over so I might now ask for trips to the indoor park. Its far but I'm desparate. :-( I need my shot of adrenaline!!

Thanks! I might stick with the soccer shoes cause I have the oak streets for now, they are heavy though, but I want a light skate. I could put ankle supports on since I wont start out on rails lol. I dont think I can cut aluminum well.

I dont speak french tho and dont know how to sign on there to ask questions. I think I just need to know the type of bolts to use and where to get them for the soccer shoes. If I can't skate now, building skates is fun for me!

Click on the right button register "S'enregistrer" (new screen)
Then on "J'accepte le règlement et j'ai exactement ou plus de 13 ans" which means that you are more than 13 years old (sure?) and you accept common rules.
Then you access to the registration page:
"nom d'utilisateur" username
"Adresse e-mail:" .....
and don't forget the bunnies!!!!
Then you can improve your french speaking during winter too... ;-)

I'm going to stick with the soccer shoes cause the basketball are $30 and up and I have my supportive oak street skates. : : : : : Thanks! I might stick with the soccer shoes cause I have the oak streets for now, they are heavy though, but I want a light skate. I could put ankle supports on since I wont start out on rails lol. I dont think I can cut aluminum well.
: : : : :
: : : : : I dont speak french tho and dont know how to sign on there to ask questions. I think I just need to know the type of bolts to use and where to get them for the soccer shoes. If I can't skate now, building skates is fun for me!

: : : : : : BTW at the time the vid was shot, Spoky used Fiberlite plates. Now he has Dickers plates+baskets with Krypto wheels.

: : : : : : You are welcome to ask him questions on rollerquad forum ;-)
: : : : : :
: : : : : : : With Basket shoes, the aluminium sole is needed because the basket sole is soft and deforms to much when you skate or jump. They add weight to your skate (100-200g per skate) With soccers shoes, you don't need them. Eveything is explained here (sorry, it's in french)

: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : He's using basketball shoes with an aluminum sole plate sandwiched between the shoe and plates. A very common setup in France.
: : : : : : : :
I have never seen a street rollerskater like that. I have seen a lot of inliners do that stuff, but nothing like that. Aweseome!

: : : : : : : : Tell me more on the aluminum sole! I've got some $9 soccer shoes here waiting on a speed/jumping set up. I think with trucks forward mount, maybe just my probe plates cause then I can put on the ramp trucks if I like. So like 1mm aluminum? Cut it up with a jigsaw and use a drill?

: : : : : : : : Yeah, he can rip! Dudette wanna rip it up too!! :-D weather is crap so I'm having fun on u-tube daydreamin it up.
