Ufra's Video
: AWESOME Video! I Love the Side-Stance to Parallel switching. I can't do that!! I also loved Irene & Bernard's comments. I can't remember how many times I've heard: "you'd be good if you were on Blades!" Thanks, Kid!
: We really shouldn't have to hear that crap. Rollerskates were around before Skateboards....LONG before Rollerblades! No Respect!!! LOL!!

I think this throws a bad light on those without respect for roller skates, not on the roller skaters. It just shows the ignorance of those uttering this crap. I believe we just have to learn more lenience towards those youngsters. Someday they will be in a similar position, hearting crap about their favorite occupation. At least the inline community showed a lot of respect when they let a roller skater judge the German Masterships Inline Halfpipe in Berlin. ;-)

Reminds me of little kids asking me why I don't skate inlines. I also got my revenge by answering that my walking ability was impaired and the doctor therefore prescribed training wheels. And that I hoped that soon I will be able to walk again without training wheels and afterwards I might be able to take up inlines ...

Thanks Bernhard, for keeping us in line (no pun, intended). You ever have a kid call your rollerskates, inlines? Ahh, must be signs of old age...

Not only that but also the other way round. I.e., when I tell somebody I'm riding roller skates, most often they imagine inlines. I've made a habit of immediately adding "roller skates, not inlines", but this very often only increases the confusion. Even to people who are old enough to have seen roller skates they just don't exist any more.

Hi, guys.
I started to skate in side stance this summer and even though I have problems with my wrist, I've been able to make this video and now I can skate switching styles. But I want to be able to skate only side stance, because I like it better.
Itīs been great reading all your thoughts guys!, keeps me going, Iīll keep in touch, have a good one!.
Next time we see each other, I`m really looking forward to achieve skating only side stance as I mentioned.
By the way happy new year!.
P.D.: kids also tell me I look like a crab! lol!.

This is a good video for me to watch because his style is a lot like mine. However, he had a few ledge slide/grind tricks that I have not done. Food for thought! Thanks for posting this.

Cheers!

 AMEN, Brother!!!

Better yet, I can't even count the number of times that kids, and even adults, have come up to me to ask me "How long have you been rollerblading?"!! Don't people even know what rollerskates look like?! I mean it isn't as if they are uncommon. Sheesh!

Cheers!

 Funny,

I am the opposite of you, Ufra. I have always skated side stance, and now, I'm trying to learn to do more front stance, as well as fakie. Our styles are very similar.

After watching your video, I thought of showing you a particular coping stall that I do. It is the first stall (in the section titled 'Mable Davis') in my video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhRAvFMx9Og&feature=channel_page

It involves coming up to the coping in side stance and basically landing a Tabernacle stall. This is where your feet are aiming different directions. I thought it would be a good new stall for you to learn, if you do not already know it.

Cheers!
Biff
