: Are those attached to his feet or is he riding them like two small skateboards?

They are attached like a snowboard (how do you call this connection?).

There has been a big half pipe contest at the RhEINKULTUR festical in Bonn on June 28./29. The big sensation for vertical roller skaters: Holger Sander (aka Beule) not only participated in the skateboard contest but also rode his very special roller skates. I post one first pic of him here and hope to create a page of the others.

Dave, thank you for this hint. However, it wasn't exactly what I had on my mind. How do you call the device (?) which you use to strap a snowboard to your feet? Snowboard straps?

I'm done with scanning my slides and almost through with processing them for the web. There will be a lot of pics! Skateboard and BMX-Pics will go to Sk8Mag.de, Roller skate pics (of Holger Sander) will also end up on this roller skate site.

 Hello!
I skated with Holger some years ago in Deusto (north coast of Spain) and I would like to say one thing that I'm not really sure if you have understood. the thing is that his feet are positioned in a 45º angle over the plates. Its almost like side stance but with less pression for those who are not very elastic (sorry for my bad english). The rollerskates are really cool and maybe they can be useful for those who doesn't feel very comfortable skating side stance.

Another thing I would like to say. He is not the only one rollerskater who is still skating. I practice every week. rollerskating is more alive than it seems.
I love this forum.

I will soon create a page with pictures of Holger. One of the pics shows the skates to make visually clear what you say.

He really isn't the only one. I myself am still skating (but nowhere as good as Holger), Daniel is still skating, Ollie is still skating and he told us that Martin Broich is still skating (yeah!). Baschi Bender skates sometimes and I hope more of the Freiburg scene will eventually be skating again.

And those are just some German skaters! in this forum you have met quite some more skaters from all over the world. Get your skates on and have some fun!

Thank you very much. I would never have believed that so many roller skaters would evetually show up here. I'm very happy about that.
