Practicing some stalls
: Nice, Al. I,too like the kneepad stall & dislike the across the park shots....but I understand editing nightmares.

Just thought I'd try out a few angles. As i didn't have anyone to film it was a case of aiming the camera in a direction and trying to stall on a part of the coping i kinda thought was in the frame. I too don't like how the across park shots came out, least i know now what angles work.

The kneepad stall is one im gonna work to really build on, modify it by maybe bringing the knee leg up and doing boot grabs, tweaking it and eventually using it in grinds like the spaniards :P

Not gonna start airing til i finish working on all the technical stuff i wanna learn/improve on.

Appreciate all the help you guys give.

On a side note, watched the Dogtown and Zboys documentary the other day. Interesting stuff, especially the part about them cutting up old rollerskates to make skateboards when they weren't readily available. Looks like the trucks on the other foot now, as its us doing the same to skateboards now xD

Appreciate you guys helping me out

Just sat the camera in some positions and practiced a few stall variations. Hope to use some of these as the basis for bigger tricks. Have also gotten used to the slide of the wheels now and sorted my landings :)

Nice! I like the frontside one foot stall with the knee to the tranny wall. Also, I like the parts of your film where you don't skate to the other side of the park. Things go much quicker and it is easier to see what you are doing.

Yea sorry bout the crappy editing, i was trying to just get the tricks in but my video editor kept crashing and freezing when i was chopping up that part of video, so i just did what i could.

I'll really have to learn sidestance as that'll open up more variations.

I don't know what any tricks are called, I just mess around and see what works for me, taking inspiration from vids of you guys. Thanks for the feedback :)

Cool. As soon as I can, I'll try to make a vid with as many stall variations as I can think of, to give you some more ideas.

Nice, Al. I,too like the kneepad stall & dislike the across the park shots....but I understand editing nightmares. I've got some stall variation stuff on film already....I'll look for it & maybe post something on RS World for you.
I LOVE spine ramps BTW. I was skating a nice street spine this morning. Also got some decent transfer aerials on some 90 degree off-set 1/4 pipes. Good session. Looks like you did too. Good on Ya!
PEACE

You'll have to learn side-stance at the same time as me, it seems.

Assuming I get my skates done before I turn 40.(although that wouldn't be a tragedy, seeing Biff et al still ripping it)

Yep, though i mainly wanna have a parallel style i see learning sidestance as a good way to mix things up.

I really don't understand why people ridicule it, I've seen a fair few people on youtube vids call it stupid looking or 'weird' (usually followed by a nice post from Biff ;)

Maybe it's due to the fact they can't do it, it's much easier to ridicule something than take the time and effort to learn it.
