Irene's time in Sin City and thanks to everyone who came out to sk8 in SD
: Like this weekend Robert made me realize (after polling Desi) that it would appear as if we Parallel Skaters all do our handplants with our hands turned at opposite directions (see pic Robert recently posted of me with my tongue out) while the side-surfers keep them in the same direction.

This is not a parallel vs. side-stance issue. The most common stance here in Europe is parallel and the German roller skaters I remember all kept their hands in the same direction when doing two-handed handplants. They also really stalled them which I think has more to do with this observation on the orientation of the hands.
