I like my trucks as far forward and rearward as possible for more stability doing vert.
I like my sliders as low as I can get them and still feel comfortable, so as to prevent wheel bite when grinding/sliding.
I prefer trucks around 100mm wide (Ace makes some 109's). I prefer harder wheels for vert...harder for cement, as really hard wheels slide a bit too much on masonite ramps.
I enjoy ankle freedom, so I do not like high ankle boots unless the cuffs are flexible; speed boots work fine for me, as do cross country ski boots.
Skis work wonderfully for plates, hand cut to size. They are strong, yet flexible, light weight, thin (low profile), and are cheap to come by in old resale shops.
