Well....not always in the past but now I practically never ever skate without a helmet. I have been trying to add up all of my concussions and I think the number is pushing 8 or 9. Oh and those were with a helmet on!! Invest in a helmet with a foam core like a bike helmet...old protec helmets with the foam rubber pads actually accelerate the shock to your head, they may help with abrasions but not with concussion. I worry often about what I'm gonna end up like in later life. I also wear knee pads 98% of the time, sometimes its nice to cruise with out them. I discovered yesterday that if I want to push myself at the park on the concrete I also need to start wearing my elbow pads again. Pads are a must for aggressive progression, you can just push yourself so much harder with that extra plastic courage!
