|I dont get it. In artistic skating, you wont find many people willing to do freestyle since they dont want to hurt themselves. Pads there are way uncool! Then I was kicked out of a derby practice in a flat empty garage for just forgetting my helmet and I said I would skate easy on my own. Both ways seem lame to me!
Some kids now wear pads, but it is looked down upon. But since they already make fun of my disco skates at times, I dont care. Especially right now without health insurance. Its either pads or no skating. The pads cost nothing compared to a hospital visit. I do not enjoy injury! Now with my knee pads on, I dont feel a thing. Its like falling in a moon bounce. :-D
: I also didn't learn it from a rollerskater but from a skateboarder. And yes, it is a bit tricky to attach those recaps.
: The street and miniramp skateboarders seem to think that pads are uncool. Very few of them wear any.
: Together with Chris Eggers and some of his skateboard friends I once did a web project against this perception called W-Y-H.org (Wear Your Helmet). It had been started under the impression of a skater who died in the skatepark Hard skating there without helment before its opening.
